Practicefirst received notification that Highmark Western New York will be transitioning its provider portal from NaviNet to Availity Essentials. According to the Highmark news bulletin, the transition will be phased in:
A select group of providers will begin to pilot the Availity portal between August and September 2023.
Providers who currently access Availity for other payers should be enabled to access the new Highmark portal through Availity in late October 2023.
The new portal through Availity is expected to be accessible to all providers in early February 2024.
NaviNet and HEALTHeNET will be retired in March 2024.
Through the new Highmark portal on Availity, providers will be able to perform eligibility and benefit checks, submit prior authorizations and check status, submit claim inquiries, view reporting, and other digital tasks that are currently being performed.
Both on-demand and live training will be available to help providers and staff navigate the new portal. Highmark will post training dates and more information about the portal transition on the Provider Resource Center as it becomes available.
